About us
A movement built out of a campaign, and kept after it.
UpNorth Ambassadors is a youth-led grassroots mobilisation movement across Northern Nigeria. We organise communities, train local coordinators, and carry political and civic engagement beyond the major cities into the places conventional structures struggle to reach.
Where we came from
It started as reach, not as an organisation.
In the 2023 presidential campaign, UpNorth Ambassadors for Obi/Datti set out to do one thing: take organised political engagement past the major urban centres and into communities across Northern Nigeria that conventional campaign structures struggle to reach.
Doing that at any scale forced a structure into existence. Coordinators had to be found and trained where the activity was. Volunteers had to be organised locally. What was published had to be documented first. By the end of the campaign the movement was no longer a set of activities. It was a network.
2023 was more than a campaign for us. It was the building of a grassroots operating network.
The 2023 record
What we are
Four things people reasonably assume, and what is actually true.
Not a party structure
An independent, youth-led movement. It supported the Obi/Datti ticket in 2023 and it is not the machinery of any party.
Not a travelling team
Activity is run by coordinators drawn from the states, LGAs and wards they organise: people who were already there.
Not an online campaign
Digital communication carries the work outward. The work itself is physical: rallies, town halls, wells, screenings, doors.
Not a 2023 archive
The network built during the campaign did not dissolve when the votes were counted. It is the same structure, still organising.

What that year established
Seven capabilities, and none of them expire.
A network built to reach communities during a campaign is the same network that can reach them about their rights, their institutions and their participation in between.

How we work
Four lines, and no proprietary method underneath them.
There is nothing here that needs explaining twice, and nothing that requires an office, a budget or permission to begin.
- 01
Go where the people are
Plan outward from the centres, not around them. The communities furthest from a campaign office are the ones an organised network exists to reach.
- 02
Understand the community
Learn the local operating environment, the existing structures and the people who matter in them, before proposing anything.
- 03
Build relationships
Contact is the point. A relationship established through a conversation outlasts a rally that visited once and left.
- 04
Organise locally
Hand responsibility to a coordinator who lives there. Local leadership is what allows the structure to survive the end of a campaign.
Where we are
Coordinated from Abuja. Organised across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.
National coordination exists to support local organisers, not to replace them. Responsibility sits with the people closest to the community, which is why the structure survived the end of the campaign that built it.
Who runs it
Organise where you live.
Tell us your state, your LGA and the community you know. That is how the network grows: one person who is already there, rather than a team sent in from somewhere else.
