The network

Organised by the people who already live there.

A movement that has to send someone in from outside for every activity is not a network. It is a travelling team. This is the structure that makes the difference, and the geography it is sized against.

The register we organise against

The geography that exists.

These are INEC's published figures for the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory. They describe the ground the movement works on. They are not a claim about how much of it we cover.

No ward figure appears anywhere on this site. INEC counts 8,809 Registration Areas nationally but publishes no per-state breakdown, and the widely circulated “9,410 wards” counts local government council wards, which are a different thing. There is no northern ward number we can source honestly, so there is none here.

How it is structured

Seven levels, and scope narrows all the way down.

National coordination sets direction. Zone and state coordinators carry it. LGA, ward and community organisers run the activity where they live. A ward coordinator organises their ward, not a spreadsheet of somebody else's.

Assignments travel down the ladder. Evidence, in photographs, attendance and field notes, travels back up it. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why the structure survived the end of the campaign that built it.

Evidence

The three northern zones

Nineteen states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Every state below, with its constitutionally fixed LGA count and its INEC polling-unit delimitation. States marked as documented are those for which there is a photograph on this site showing the work.

Becoming a coordinator

We train the local leader rather than deploy a stranger.

A three-day Leadership Workshop on Strategic Grassroots Mobilisation, held in Jos, equipped coordinators with the strategies for organising and engaging their own communities. That model is what makes the structure hold between elections.

Most people who join can already do one of the things the movement needs, in the place they already live. Experience helps and is not the requirement. The requirement is that you are there, and that the community knows you.

Join the network

There is a level of this you can run.

The ladder runs 7 levels deep: North, Zone, State, LGA, Ward, Community, Polling Unit. Tell us which one you are standing on.
